Green Africa, Nigeria’s renowned value airline, has announced a partnership with Jump Air to acquire an additional aircraft (an ATR72-500). This news comes just three months after Green Africa revealed its plans to expand its network across Nigeria starting in 2023.
The agreement between the two airlines, structured as a damp lease, will provide Green Africa with bridge capacity to grow its fleet to four aircraft. It will support its planned expansion. Pending regulatory approvals, the new aircraft is expected to enter service during the third quarter of 2023.
With this expansion, Green Africa aims to establish a base in Abuja and extend its presence to 16 routes across ten states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Babawande Afolabi, Founder and CEO of Green Africa, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Green Africa is on track for its next growth phase.” We are pleased to welcome the aircraft from Jump Air, which will strengthen our existing routes and enable Green Africa to serve customers nationwide.”
Despite being relatively newly established in the industry, Green Africa has already established itself as one of Nigeria’s most cost-effective and punctual carriers. The airline’s commercial operations began 20 months ago. Based in Lagos, Green Africa currently operates flights to Port-Harcourt, Abuja, Benin, Owerri, Akure, Ilorin, and Enugu, as well as connecting flights from Ilorin, Benin, and Akure to Abuja.
Customers who book their flights at least 60 days in advance can benefit from affordable rates starting at N25,000. It is for all Green Africa itineraries, including the most recent ones.
Dovydas Jurgelevicius, Accountable Manager of Jump Air, expressed pride in supporting Green Africa’s expansion. It comes as the airline celebrates its first two years of operation. He stated, “Green Africa has built a strong foundation since entering service in 2021. We are proud to be part of Green Africa’s journey and support its growth.”
