In a circular bearing the signature of Magaji Mohammed Misau, the Human Resources Manager, dated August 3rd, 2023, it has been communicated that all staff, except for a select group of eight senior employees, are now on compulsory leave without pay. This circular, titled ‘Placement Of Leave Without Pay,’ clearly outlines the company’s predicament. “Our domestic operations have been temporarily paused due to the necessary maintenance checks being conducted on our aircraft,” the circular states.
The decision to place most staff on unpaid leave might raise eyebrows, but it’s important to note that this step has been taken to ensure the airline’s long-term stability. According to the circular, “Management assures you that this step has been taken to ensure that we can get back in the skies as soon as our aircraft are fully prepared.”

He confirmed that the airline’s entire fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft is undergoing comprehensive maintenance, leading to the suspension of their domestic operations since April 18th, 2023. Despite this suspension, the airline has steadfastly paid its dedicated staff’s salaries.
Aliyu remarked, “Our commitment to safety and operational excellence has prompted this pause. Two of our aircraft are undergoing maintenance, while three more are scheduled for C-checks. The timeline for our return to full operations is October, as we anticipate completing the maintenance requirements by then.”
